Why are we doing this?

Many people suffer from stress, such as burn-out, depression or anxiety. This results in a lot of personal suffering and high medical costs (CBS, 2019).Reducing stress and learning to relax is an important pillar of good mental health. But that is easier said than done. That’s why VRelax was created because we have experienced that Virtual Reality has a very fast and strong effect on body and mind.

VRelax has been developed together with clients and social workers for stress reduction, but also as a distraction principle in case of pain or physical discomfort, for example in hospitals. This allows people to relax themselves and feel better. Our dream is that VRelax makes people more relaxed and healthy. As a result, they are better balanced, have fewer psychological complaints and function better.

A strong combination of disciplines

We are enthusiastic, creative and driven people from the healthcare, science and ICT industry, who together with patients and care providers have created a VR app that relaxes, distracts and makes people happy. At VRelax we believe in this new dimension of care. Care in which self-management is central and people are mentally strengthened through innovative application of 360° images/sound and interactive game elements.

By now, more than 20 hospitals and mental health institutions are working with VRelax. As a result, we have learned what does and does not work when implementing VR in healthcare practice. The founders below jointly determine the vision and strategy within VRelax and steer within their own departments various fellow workers to make VRelax a bit better every day.
